Under the generous patronage of the University President, Prof. Mansour Hassan, and under the supervision of Prof. Ibrahim Abdel-Gid, Dean of the Faculty, and Asst. Prof. Fathi Abu Al-Saud, Head of the Department of Water and Environmental Geology, 23 students from the department completed their summer training at the Regional Center for Environmental Training and Studies affiliated with the Ministry of Irrigation in 6th of October City.
The students trained in the center’s laboratories in collaboration with the National Water Research Center in Cairo and Minya, gaining insight into the Ministry of Irrigation’s role in the sustainability of water resources, including all procedures related to the construction of large-scale stations, dams, canal lining, and other projects within Egypt and abroad, as well as laboratory work supporting the vision and mission of the ministry’s research centers. The training also included multiple field visits.
Student Abdullah Ayman was selected by the center to receive a full scholarship covering accommodation, expenses, meals, and study materials for the training program.
The Faculty of Earth Sciences represented the university among 22 public, private, and governmental universities. In this context, thanks are extended to the center’s training staff and their supporting team for their tireless efforts in providing the students with maximum benefit from the field visits and practical experiments.
A cooperation protocol is planned, God willing, to be signed with the center for training purposes and the supervision of students’ graduation projects.
