President of Beni-Suef University: Operating headquarters of students union with Solar energy

Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Suef University, announced the start of operating students union headquarters at university campus with solar energy instead of electricity. This comes within the framework of the participation of Youth Care Department at the university in designing a model for environmental protection with the participation of a number of parties concerned with environmental affairs and 18 Egyptian universities, as a part of the competition activities of the Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development held in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khedr, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs and Captain / Mohamed Farouk, Director General of the Youth Care Department.

The Rector said that the activities of the forum in which the students participated included the establishment of environmental awareness camps for students and organizing workshops on how to recycle waste and the use of solar energy. He pointed out that the university is launching an initiative entitled ''Environmentally-friendly university''. The first and second phases have been implemented, announcing the formation of a committee to determine the cost of running the university buildings with solar energy.
