A New Medical Achievement at Beni Suef University Hospitals: Development of an Advanced Bed for Burn Patients

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance medical services and promote innovation, the Faculty of Medicine at Beni Suef University has announced the success of its medical team of burn and plastic surgery specialists, led by Professor Dr. Wael El Shaer, in developing a specialized medical bed for burn patients at the Burn Hospital affiliated with the University Hospitals.

This achievement comes under the patronage of Professor Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University; under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals; and Dr. Emad El Banna, Executive Director, in the presence of a distinguished group of medical and administrative leaders.

The innovation, led by Professor Dr. Wael El Shaer, former Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Department of Plastic and Burn Surgery, along with the department’s medical team, is the result of extensive practical experience and careful assessment of the needs of critically injured burn patients, particularly third-degree cases.

The newly developed bed features a unique design that prevents patient slippage and is equipped with advanced pumping systems that enable wound cleaning without the need to move the patient. This significantly reduces pain, minimizes the risk of infection, and enhances the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery. The bed was manufactured in collaboration with a specialized national company, in accordance with precise medical specifications established by the medical team.

In recognition of this humanitarian and scientific effort, the manufacturing company presented a shield of appreciation to Professor Dr. Wael El Shaer in acknowledgment of his contributions to advancing burn patient care mechanisms.
For its part, the University Hospitals Administration extended its gratitude to Dr. El Shaer and his team, reaffirming its full support for all innovative initiatives aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services and alleviating patients’ suffering, and wishing its medical staff continued success and excellence.
