Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Bar – Technological Programs Coordinator, Assoc. Prof.Dr. Ayman Sayed – Director of the Alumni Follow-up Unit
Organized by
Dr. Mustafa Wajih – Student Activities Coordinator, Mr. Ali Ibrahim – Director of Student Welfare at the College
The College of Technology and Education, in cooperation with the Military Education Department led by Colonel Ahmed Abdel Gawad Nassar, organized a field trip to the National Cement Company's factory complex in Beni Suef, affiliated with the National Service Projects Organization, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. This trip reflects the college's commitment to strengthening the link between academic study and practical application, and providing students with the opportunity to gain field experience and familiarize themselves with the industrial work environment, thus contributing to the development of their technological and practical skills and preparing them for the demands of the labor market
The visit began with an informative introductory lecture delivered by the Director General of the complex, Major General Engineer Hassan Abdel Fattah El Shimi, during which he reviewed the idea of establishing the factory, its stages of development, the factory’s production capacity, its most important departments, in addition to the achievements and distinguished position the complex has attained in the field of cement manufacturing
Then the students embarked on a field tour inside the various departments of the factory, accompanied by the production management and laboratory management engineers, who provided a detailed explanation of the stages of the production process, so that the theoretical information that the students study would turn into practical applications
From raw materials to cement: A complete industrial journey
During the tour, the students learned about the basic stages of cement manufacturing, starting with handling and preparing raw materials, then going through the crushing stage inside crushers to reduce the size of the raw materials and prepare them for the next stages
The students also saw the mills and grinding stages, where the mixture components are ground and prepared to reach the required specifications, before moving to the thermal stages inside the kilns, which represent one of the most important stages in the cement manufacturing process, leading to the formation of clinker
The students then followed the stages of dealing with clinker, grinding it, adding the necessary components to produce cement with the required specifications, then the transfer of the product to the storage stages inside the silos, and learning about the transport and handling systems used inside the factory
The tour did not stop at the manufacturing stages only, but extended to the packaging and preparation stages for distribution, where the students learned about the packaging system, product transportation, and preparation in its final form, reflecting the integration between the various stages of the industrial process
This tour represented a distinguished educational opportunity for students of electrical, mechanical, and civil construction disciplines. Electrical students saw control and operation systems and electrical equipment, while mechanical students learned about machines, equipment, production lines, and their operating stages, while civil construction technology students experienced the nature of huge industrial facilities and the specialized engineering and construction work they require
The students expressed their great happiness with what they saw during the visit, stressing that moving from lecture halls and laboratories to the real industrial work environment helped them to understand many concepts more clearly, and to link the theoretical aspect with practical application
This visit comes within the framework of the College of Technology and Education’s strategy to provide an integrated educational experience that is not limited to theoretical knowledge, but extends to practice, application, and familiarization with real work environments, which contributes to preparing a qualified technological graduate who possesses knowledge, skills, and practical experience
At the conclusion of the visit, the College of Technology and Education extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the management of the National Cement Company's factory complex in Beni Suef, and to all the engineers and those in charge of the visit, for their cooperation, warm welcome, and outstanding scientific explanation, which greatly enriched the students' scientific and practical experience.
