Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Suef University, announced that the university has achieved a ranking of 1201–1400 globally and 7th locally in the QS World University Rankings — a first in the university’s history.
The President explained that QS rankings rely on a range of indicators, with reputation being the most significant, accounting for 45% of the total score. This measure has a major influence on university rankings. He noted that the organization responsible for the ranking evaluates reputation through surveys conducted with academics, institutional leaders, and employers across various sectors. These surveys assess the perceived quality of a university in specific disciplines. Reputation remains a central element as it is based on direct feedback from experts across countries and fields, providing a global perspective on the quality of education and research. As such, the QS ranking tends to reflect the level of international academic and professional recognition a university has earned.
Dr. Sama El-Daq, Director of the Office for International Rankings and Sustainable Development, added that beyond reputation, the ranking also incorporates research-related data, such as the volume and impact of published research, as well as citation rates in relation to the number of international publications produced by faculty members. These data are extracted from the Scopus database.
