An Introduction to Precision Farming Techniques Using Remote Sensing Data and GIS El Sharkawy M.M.1 1 Soil Sciences Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Beni-Suef University. This book presents the latest researches in the field of precision agriculture in the world, in addition to the advanced remote sensing data, GIS techniques and its applications in agricultural management practices in specific areas within the farm and at a specific time and also specified; the book discusses modern irrigation techniques using satellite images and thermal data, the tools for monitoring plant water consumption and nutrient availability for increasing the efficient use of water and other inputs and the GIS help in determining the management crop zones; and thus limit the use of fertilizer and chemicals adds in the farm. the management crop zones allow adding nutrients only on the parts that actually need fertilizer, which of course reduces the cost as well as maintaining the environment. In addition, the role of the Global Poisoning System (GPS) in the development of many tools and field equipment to help farm managers and agricultural companies to become more efficient and productive for precision agriculture activities. Today, many farmers use products and sensors based on GPS to manage their farms; spatial information is collected using GPS receivers to produce maps of crop boundaries, irrigation systems used and areas experiencing problems such as lack of irrigation water or lack of fertilizers. The harvesting data collected in the field recorded by sensors that can be mounted on tractors, which conduct a complete field survey while the agricultural tractors moves along the farm lines. GPS fixed on tractors are assigned to determine the geographical location of each field spectral measurement. The spatial accuracy of the GPS allows farm managers to produce maps of their farms precisely declaring Their building, livestock, croplands and road sites. The GPS also allows farmers to specify places to collect soil samples, monitoring the crop health and specific sites management in the field year after year.
