4.1 Regulations of the Faculty of Education for Postgraduate Studies

The list of postgraduate studies for the Faculty of Education - Cairo University - Fayoum branch was issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 2200 of 2003, and the Faculty of Education at Beni Suef University operates with that list

The college has established many educational diplomas, such as:

The general diploma  a general system for not busy students.

The general diploma is the two-year system for students who work.

Various professional diplomas (Special Education - Curriculum Development - Educational Administration)

Special Diploma in Education and Psychology.

It also took care of enrolling its children in the different scientific degrees in the various departments (curricula and teaching methods - the principles of education - psychology and mental health) such as:

Master's degree registration.

PhD registration.

4.1.1 General Diploma in Education Education

Article (30):

The student must be enrolled in the General Diploma in Education

To have \ bachelor's degree from faculty of education from an Egyptian university, or an equivalent degree from another institute recognized by the university.

To pass the college’s oral or written personality tests to verify his readiness for the teaching profession.

Article (31):

The period of study for obtaining a general diploma is an academic year for full-time students

Actual study is less than thirty weeks a year during the months of June and September of each year, and the University Council, based on a proposal by the College Council, may amend this date.

Examinations consist of written and oral exams and one-year work in accordance with the system decided by the College Council based on the proposal of the concerned department.

The College Council, based on the request of the concerned department, may decide to prevent the student from taking the exam in all or some of the department’s courses if his attendance in lectures and theoretical and practical lessons is less than 75% of their
actual total. .

Article (36):

The General Diploma in Education exam is held at the end of the academic year in the courses that the student has studied. The duration of the written exam in each course is 3 hours, except for the course that is taught in one theoretical hour, in which case the duration of the exam is two hours.

Article (37):

20% of the final degree of each course is allocated for the work of the year, and for subjects that have laboratory exams, another 20% is allocated for them.

Article (38):

Students of the two-year system are examined in the courses they have studied in each year separately, and the courses are considered completed at the end of the academic year as study and examination.

The student is transferred from the first year to the second year if he is successful in all subjects, or he is transferred with a lag if he fails in two subjects at most, and he remains for repetition if he fails in more than two subjects.

Students' grades in the General Diploma are calculated for the two-year system with all the grades obtained in the first and second years together.

Article (39):

The grades of passing and failing grades applied to BA and B.Sc. students, as well as the percentages corresponding to the same grades, are applied to students of the General Diploma in Education.

Article (40):

If the student fails in the student training course, he is not allowed to sit for the examination, and the College Council may re-enroll him as a new student, so he repeats the year of study and examination, and he is not allowed to re-enroll more than once.

If the student succeeds in the student training course and fails or is absent in exams or some or all of the other courses, he is allowed to apply for the exam in the second round if he failed or was absent from it. If his failure or absence is repeated, he is allowed to apply for the examination from abroad in the following year in that which he failed  to do. In all cases, it is not permissible to fail to take an exam for any course more than twice, even if the failure is with an acceptable excuse.

The second round exam is held in each of the first and second years in the month of September of each year, and the College Council may set other dates if circumstances so require.

 Article (41):

If the student has exhausted the prescribed examination times, the College Council may re-enroll him as a new student who repeats the year of study and examination, provided that his enrollment is not removed more than once.

4.1.2 Professional Diploma in Education

Article (42):

In order for a student to obtain a professional diploma in education, the following conditions are required:

To have a general diploma in education, or a bachelor's degree in arts and education, or a bachelor's degree in science and education from a university in the Arab Republic of Egypt, or an equivalent degree from another scientific institute recognized by the university.

To apply for admission to the college during the month of August of each year, and enrollment is not permitted after that except with a license from the college council within the limits of the rules decided by the university council.

The following documents should be attached to his application:

Academic qualification obtained.

Birth certificate or an official extract thereof.

Statement of the position of recruitment for males.

4 photographs of the student.

An application for postgraduate studies to be filled out by the student to determine the diploma he/she wishes to enroll in.

For international students, the laws and rules governing the admission and registration of foreign students in Egyptian universities apply to them.

In all cases, the student is not enrolled in the college until after completing his papers and paying the prescribed fees.

The student should succeed in the college admission tests.

Article (43):

The period of study for obtaining a professional diploma is one academic year, and the actual study period must not be less than thirty weeks per year.

Article (44):

A professional diploma in education is awarded in one of the following majors:

1- School Administration 2- Special Education

3- Psychological counseling. 4- Adult education

5- Educational planning and education economics 6- Nursery and kindergarten

7- Education technology 8- Psychological and educational measurement

9- Teaching an academic subject. 10- School psychology

11- Planning and curriculum development

Article (45):

Based on the opinion of the College Council and the Graduate Studies Committee, the University Council determines any amendments in the courses of any of these diplomas and in the number of hours of theoretical, practical and field study, and the examination systems for any course therein.

Article (46):

The college council, based on the request of the concerned department council, may prevent the student from taking the exam in all or some of the department’s courses if his attendance in lectures and theoretical and practical lessons is less than 75% of their actual total. In this case, the student is considered to have failed the courses in which he was prevented from taking the exam.

Article (47):

The professional diploma exam is held at the end of the academic year. The exam consists of written, practical and oral exams in the courses that the student studied according to the schedules shown for each major. A second round exam is held if the student failed or was absent from it during the month of September of each year. The College Council may set other dates. If circumstances so require.

Article (48):

If the student is absent from the professional diploma exam or fails in some or all of its courses, he is allowed to apply for the exam in the second round if he failed or was absent from it.

Article (49):

The success and failure estimates applied to bachelor and bachelor's students are applied to students of professional diplomas, as well as the corresponding percentage.

Article (50):

In order for a student to be enrolled for a master's degree in education, he must have obtained a special diploma in education from a university in the Arab Republic of Egypt, or an equivalent degree from another scientific institute recognized by the university. In all cases, his general grade in the first university degree and in the special diploma must not be less than good. The College Council determines the systems and dates of enrollment and registration.

Article (51):

After enrolling in a master's degree, the student studies two courses, one in educational statistics and the other in the field of specialization, to be determined by the College Council based on the proposal of the concerned department council. In each of them, the student performs a three-hour exam after the expiration of at least one year from the date of enrollment. The College Council sets two exam dates each year. He may advance to discuss the thesis only after he has succeeded in these two courses.

Article (52):

The student is assigned to conduct research on a subject approved by the University Council under the supervision of one of the professors or assistant professors in the college. It is permissible for one of the teachers to participate in the supervision, and it is also possible to add one or more supervisors who are not members of the teaching staff, whom the College Council deems qualified to do so. After at least one year has passed from the date of registration of the subject in the College Council, the student submits a letter with the results of the research that is accepted by the judging committee. The thesis is discussed or examined by this committee.

Article (53):

Before accepting the thesis for discussion, it is required that the student reside in the Arab Republic of Egypt for at least one year during the research period, attend research halls, and attend research halls in the department in which he is registered for a period of at least six months from the date of approval of the College Council on registration.

Article (54):

The judging committee for the thesis is appointed from three professors and assistant professors at universities or at their level who are specialists in the field of research, and among them is the supervisor of the thesis who submits a report on the validity of the thesis for presentation to the judging committee, and it is required that at least one of them be from outside the college. The public discussion of the thesis provides a report on its validity, and the report is presented to the College Council to recommend awarding the degree, and the council may authorize the student whose eligibility for obtaining the degree has not been determined to resubmit the thesis after completing its shortcomings, or to submit another thesis that is discussed by the previous judging committee, and the report is presented with the thesis after Introduce the amendments approved by the committee to the college council to recommend granting the degree.

Article (55):

In the certificate granted to the student, it is mentioned what he specializes in, the subject of the thesis he submitted, and the grade he deserves (acceptable, good, very good, excellent).

4.1.5 Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education

Article (56):

The student’s enrollment for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Education requires that he hold a master’s degree in education in the same specialization from a university in the Arab Republic of Egypt, or an equivalent degree from another institute recognized by the university. In all cases, his general grade must not be less than good, and the college council determines Systems and dates of progress, registration and registration.


Article (57):

After enrolling in the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, the student studies two courses, which are determined by the College Council based on the proposal of the concerned department council. In each of them, the student performs an exam for a period of three hours at least one year after the date of enrollment. The College Council sets two exam dates each year, and he may not present to discuss thesis only after passing these two courses, and it is not permissible for him to fail any course more than once.

Article (58):

The student conducts research on a subject approved by the University Council under the supervision of a professor or assistant professor in the college. It is not permissible for one of the teachers in the college to participate in the supervision, and it is permissible to add one or more supervisors who are not members of the teaching staff whom the College Council deems qualified to do so. After at least one year has passed from the date of registration of the subject in the College Council, the student submits a letter with the results of these researches, which is accepted by the judging committee. The thesis is discussed and examined by this committee.

Article (59):

Before accepting the thesis for discussion, it is required that the student reside in the Arab Republic of Egypt for at least one year during the research period, attend research halls, and attend research halls in the department in which he is registered for a period of at least six months from the date of approval of the College Council on registration.

Article (60):

The thesis judging committee is appointed from three members, one of whom is the supervisor of the thesis and the other two members are appointed by the College Council based on the proposal of the relevant department from among current or former professors in universities or of their level, at least one of whom is from outside the university, and one of the members of the judging committee may be among the assistant professors In the event that the professors are not available, the members of the judging committee, after public discussion of the thesis, submit a detailed report on the validity of the thesis and recommend awarding the degree - if accepted - without estimates.

The council may authorize the student whose eligibility to obtain the degree has not been determined to resubmit the thesis after completing its deficiencies, or to submit another thesis to be discussed by the previous judging committee.

Article (61):

In the certificate granted to the student, it is mentioned what the student specializes in and the subject of the thesis he submitted.

Article (62):

Registration for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in any of the disciplines in the college is under the supervision of a professor or assistant professor.
