Beni-Suef University celebrates launching university center for professional development in partnership with American University in Cairo

Beni-Suef University, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, in partnership with the American University in Cairo and the US Agency for International Development (USAID), celebrated the opening of University Center for Professional Development, which helps develop university students' skills that qualify them for labour market after graduation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Eng. Sherif Habib, Beni Suef Governor, Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Suef University, Mrs. Sherry Carlin, USAID Director in Egypt, Mr. Francis Ricciardone, President of the American University in Cairo, Dr. Ashraf Hatem, Advisor of the American University in Cairo, and Dr. Ihab Abdel Rahman, Academic President of the American University in Cairo.

Dr. Mansour Hassan pointed out that the Center is one of 20 academic centers for professional development in governmental universities in Upper Egypt, Delta and Cairo, which will be established through this partnership to provide vocational guidance services to about one million students. The University Center for Professional Development will help students pursue their career choices and facilitate their transition from university to the labor market through providing a comprehensive set of guidance and training courses in the areas of professional management, Employment skills technical training and entrepreneurship. The AUC team will train and qualify the staff of Beni-Suef University Center for Professional Development to be able to provide professional guidance services to university students.

 Ricciardone praised the opening ceremony of the center and expressed his happiness at the remarkable development that he witnessed in Beni-Suef governorate and the new cooperation between the American University in Cairo and Beni-Suef University. He also said "I thank the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for facilitating the establishment of this center as well as the US Agency for International Development for its important support for this project", he added "The Center of Professional Development at Beni-Suef University will provide services similar to the AUC Center in Cairo as it will inform students with growing industries, companies and employers in their vicinity

Carlin said "These centers will help students to be qualified for job opportunities, and students who use these centers will receive support to determine their career path in line with the needs of labor market and benefit from partnerships between universities and industries in Upper Egypt" .

The university president expressed his happiness at the opening of university center for professional development. He said "This center is an advanced and unique initiative to connect the university with its students and graduates to the labor market in a way that achieves leadership and excellence to enhances the role of Beni-Suef University in upgrading economy and the country. " He pointed out that the scope of of the center services should be extended to cover university students in Beni-Suef governorate.
