Faculty of Agriculture, Beni Suef University, organizes a symposium on techniques for rationalizing the use of irrigation water in new land reclamation projects

Under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, the Faculty of Agriculture organized a symposium entitled “Techniques for rationalizing the use of irrigation water in new land reclamation projects In cooperation with the Egyptian Society for Land Sciences, under the supervision of Dr. Sameh Al-Maraghi, Vice President of the University for the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, Dr. Abdel Latif Hisham, Dean of the College, and Dr. Essam El-Din Shawky, President of the Egyptian Society for Land Sciences, and lectured by Dr. Abdel Aziz Sheta, Emeritus Professor of Lands and Water Department.   The university president explained that the symposium aims to review more modern technologies and methods that can be applied to maximize the use of water resources, as the idea of water rationalization, especially in newly reclaimed lands which considered one of the priorities that must be considered during the current period
Especially as the principles of the New Republic pay great attention to maximizing the use of water resources, pointing out that the agricultural sector occupied an advanced position in Egypt’s Vision 2030, most notably the Egypt Future Project, which represents the jewel of agricultural production, as it relied heavily on the principles of rationalizing water consumption in large agricultural areas according to modern technologies
Dr. Abdul Latif Hisham, Dean of the College, indicated that the symposium reviewed a lecture on techniques for rationalizing water use in land reclamation projects in Egypt, and a lecture on the use of geographic information systems and remote sensing to manage water resources and mitigate the effects of climate change for the sake of sustainable development
   It is worth noting that many parties participated in the symposium, including representatives of the land and water departments of the faculties of agriculture from the universities of Fayoum, Cairo, Assiut, Ain Shams, Banha, Al-Azhar, the National Research Center, the Desert Research Center, and the Agriculture Research Center
