Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, the university took part in a workshop on cyber violence and cybersecurity, held in cooperation with the National Council for Women. The event also included the participation of Beni-Suef National University and Beni-Suef Technological University.

The workshop was attended by Ms. Nermeen Mahmoud, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women’s branch in Beni-Suef, Dr. Ghada Atef, Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at Beni-Suef University, and Dr. Noha Shabriya, Lecturer at the Faculty of Computers and Information, who delivered the keynote lecture.

In her presentation, Dr. Shabriya explained the concept of cyber violence and addressed major cybersecurity challenges, outlining preventive mechanisms and protective measures to curb such digital threats. Dr. Ghada Atef highlighted the role and responsibilities of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit within the university, noting avenues of cooperation with faculties and centers to support women’s issues on campus. Ms. Nermeen Mahmoud reaffirmed the Council’s support for anti-violence units across Egyptian universities and emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen their performance, enhance their community role, and shed light on the services provided by the Women’s Complaints Office, alongside key legislative amendments aimed at safeguarding women from all forms of violence.

The workshop concluded with the development of a joint action plan among the participating universities. The plan includes organizing awareness and educational sessions across faculties during the 2025/2026 academic year to raise community awareness of the risks of cyber violence, underscore the importance of cybersecurity, and promote a culture of digital safety among students.
