Beni Suef University begins the second phase of the presidential "Empowerment" initiative with a pioneering workshop on the inclusive university environment.

Beni Suef University, headed by Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University, has begun implementing the activities of the second phase of the presidential "Empowerment" initiative under the slogan "Academic Empowerment in Higher Education," through the implementation of a qualitative participatory workshop entitled:


"The Inclusive University Environment: From Understanding to Application," which was held in cooperation between the Faculties of Special Needs Sciences and Languages, as part of the university's commitment to supporting the rights of students with disabilities and developing a more inclusive educational system.

The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel-Mawjoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Heba Abu Al-Nil, Dean of the College, Dr. Marwa Mahmoud, Dean of the College, Dr. Heba Mohamed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Languages, and Dr. Haitham Nagi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences and Director of the Center for Serving Students with Disabilities.

Dr. Tarek Ali stressed that the Egyptian state attaches great importance to empowering its children with disabilities, which is represented in launching the second phase of the “Empowerment” initiative, which reflects the university’s firm commitment to promoting the rights of students with disabilities within the academic community. He pointed out that inclusion is not just a theoretical concept, but a real practice that requires continuous development in teaching methods and assessment mechanisms and providing a fair educational environment for all.

The workshop, held at the Faculty of Languages, focused on training faculty members to apply the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) methodology in course development. It also presented practical models for adapting exams to accommodate visually impaired students and discussed effective mechanisms for providing academic support within classrooms. Furthermore, the workshop addressed the role of assistive technology in enhancing academic empowerment opportunities for visually impaired students during their studies and examinations.

The event witnessed a distinguished attendance from faculty members, who showed great interest in adopting inclusive educational practices that contribute to achieving justice and equal opportunities for all students.
