Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, both the public and National campuses of the university participated actively and distinguished themselves in the 8th Annual Meeting of University Units for Combating Violence Against Women. This participation was part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, organized by the National Council for Women in strategic cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The meeting was attended by senior officials, including leaders of the National Council for Women, representatives of ministries and universities, as well as several university presidents and vice presidents.

Representing the universities were Dr. Ghada Atef, Director of the Anti-Violence Unit at Beni-Suef University and the private campus, along with student representatives: Ziad Mohamed Fawzy for Beni-Suef University and Farah Walid Hassan for the private campus. Their participation reflects the universities’ commitment to supporting national and community issues, particularly women’s empowerment, and to providing a safe and supportive campus environment for all students, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 objectives.

Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized the critical role played by university units for combating violence, describing them as the “first line of defense” within the campus. He noted that the meeting included in-depth discussion sessions focusing on addressing all forms of violence, with particular attention to challenges posed by digital violence, and highlighted the role of religious and community institutions in effectively tackling these issues.

The Acting President also stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and benefiting from the practices of other universities in this vital field. The activities of Beni-Suef University’s Anti-Violence Unit were showcased during the meeting, receiving high praise, particularly for intensive awareness efforts on campus and in student housing areas to reach the widest possible student base. The events concluded with a documentary highlighting the outstanding efforts of the various units, alongside an exhibition of products from the Egyptian Family Development Project in cooperation with UNFPA, reflecting the university’s ongoing institutional commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students.
