“The Value of Knowledge and Scholars”: An Awareness Seminar at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Beni Suef University

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the Youth Welfare Administration at the Faculty of Earth Sciences organized an awareness seminar entitled “The Value of Knowledge and Scholars.” The seminar was held as part of the university’s commitment to enhancing students’ cultural and religious awareness and highlighting the role of knowledge and scholars in building societies.

The seminar was delivered by Dr. Adel Mohamed, representative of the Ministry of Awqaf, and was attended by a number of faculty members and students.

Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized that the university places great importance on developing students’ intellectual awareness, noting that knowledge is the fundamental pillar of nations’ progress, and that scholars are the guiding light leading societies toward advancement and prosperity. He added that such seminars contribute to instilling positive values and strengthening national belonging among young people.

Dr. Essam Abdel Rahman pointed out that the faculty seeks to integrate scientific, cultural, and awareness-based aspects within its educational system, stressing that knowledge cannot be separated from values, and that a true scholar is one who combines knowledge with ethics. He also praised the students’ attendance and their active engagement with the seminar’s topics.

During his lecture, Dr. Adel Mohamed addressed the status of scholars in Islam, citing Quranic verses and Prophetic traditions that emphasize the virtue of knowledge and the importance of seeking it. He stressed that scholars are the inheritors of the prophets, and that beneficial knowledge is that which serves humanity and society.
