Graduates of the Faculty Of Science Of Navigation and Space Technology at Beni Suef University, under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Osama Shalabia, Dean of the Faculty, participated in the specialized training course “Assessing the dynamics of vegetation in space with analyzes and techniques for remote sensing” organized by the Remote Sensing Authority and space sciences, in order to build human capabilities in modern fields and advanced technologies such as programming, artificial intelligence, and remote sensing technologies, in cooperation with the European Union through the European Space Agency.
Dr. Mansour Hassan explained that the university is keen to train and qualify its students during the study period and after their graduation, and to build bridges of communication with graduates to provide all aspects of support to prepare a generation capable of competing in the labor market, especially with the presence of specialized and unique colleges such as the Faculty of Science of Navigation and Space Technology
The course activities were launched with the participation of 4 North African countries (Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Mauritania), which includes an introduction to cloud technologies to evaluate vegetation dynamics with Earth observation data, computing principles, and an innovation laboratory, an introduction to the world's largest Earth observation program - COPERNICUS with special emphasis on agriculture and vegetation through which participants gain sufficient knowledge about the basic concepts of satellite-based data applications in crop monitoring and mapping as well as crop needs for optimal growth such as evaporation and transpiration using Sentinel-2 data and processing in SNAP.
