Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced that the University's Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a series of events to mark World Autism Awareness Day. The activities were held in coordination with the Faculty of Nursing and supervised by Dr. Abul Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Hanan El-Zeblawy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing.
The event team was divided into two groups: one conducted awareness sessions in local schools targeting teachers, administrators, and social workers, while the other operated within the Faculty of Nursing to educate students and staff on the topic.
Dr. Mansour Hassan emphasized the university’s strong commitment to supporting individuals with autism and raising awareness about the condition to help the surrounding community better understand and engage with them. He highlighted the importance of promoting a culture of inclusion and kindness—discouraging bullying and encouraging compassion, care, and support for those affected.
The events featured informative presentations explaining the nature, symptoms, and causes of autism in children. Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals perceive and interact socially. It can lead to challenges in communication and social interaction and is often accompanied by restricted and repetitive behaviors.
The activities also addressed the importance of early and intensive intervention, which can significantly improve outcomes for many children with autism.
