Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Suef University, announced the successful development of the first-of-its-kind application in Egypt and the Arab world, titled “Team Kemet”, by a group of archaeology students at the Faculty of Arts. The app was created as part of their graduation projects for the academic year 2024/2025, under the supervision of Dr. Mahrous Mohamed Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts. The project employs virtual reality technology to present Egyptian antiquities in an innovative, interactive format, aimed at enhancing cultural awareness and promoting Egyptian heritage globally. It stands as a model of integrating academic study with technological innovation.
The University President explained that the app is designed to offer a unique educational and touristic experience, allowing users inside and outside Egypt to explore ancient Egyptian civilization through virtual reality. By linking technology with heritage, the application enables users to interact with archaeological sites as if they were visiting them in person, thereby promoting historical and cultural awareness in an engaging and immersive way.
Dr. Hassan extended his congratulations to the students behind the project—Mina Gerges, Fatma Mosallem, Malak Yasser, Nadia Abdelghany, and Basma Ali—praising their creativity and innovative thinking. He also commended their efforts, which align with the state’s vision of supporting digital transformation and leveraging advanced technological solutions and artificial intelligence to promote tourism and heritage. The initiative offers a captivating means of delivering Egypt’s rich history to new generations and tourists amid rapid advancements in digital display technologies.
