Beni-Suef University Joins Construction Waste Recycling and Sustainable Development Alliance under Presidential Initiative "Tahalof wa Tanmia"

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Suef University, announced the university’s official participation in the presidential initiative “Tahalof wa Tanmia” through its membership in the Innovation Alliance for Construction Waste Recycling and Sustainable Development in the Northern Upper Egypt Region. The alliance includes a select group of academic, industrial, and community partners, led by Titan Cement Egypt as the principal industrial partner. This step comes within the framework of promoting a green economy and enhancing sustainable development efforts in Upper Egypt.
The announcement was made during a meeting held this morning in the President’s office, where Dr. Hassan received Mr. Amr Reda, CEO of Titan Group, Eng. Hossam Taha, Director of Beni-Suef Cement Plant, and Captain Tony Osman, Director of Public and External Relations at Titan Group. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Hamada Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Beni-Suef University.
Dr. Hassan explained that the alliance aims to develop an integrated regional model for recycling construction waste by integrating artificial intelligence technologies into production chains, converting waste into intelligent, eco-friendly building materials. This contributes to reducing the carbon footprint and supports national efforts to promote the circular economy in the construction sector.
He added that the university will lead this alliance, leveraging its distinguished academic and research capabilities and its status as a leading academic institution in Upper Egypt. He emphasized the importance of engaging in national initiatives that advance the country’s goals for sustainable development and a green economy, highlighting the need for synergy between scientific research, industry, and community service.
Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Bakhit, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Coordinator of the Alliance, stated that the initiative represents a model for turning the challenge of construction waste into a developmental opportunity, relying on the university’s expertise in recycling, artificial intelligence, and sustainable construction.
Mr. Amr Reda, CEO of Titan Group, expressed his full support for the initiative, affirming that the alliance aligns with Titan’s vision to reduce emissions and promote the circular economy. He confirmed the company's readiness to provide all industrial, technical, and logistical capabilities to ensure the alliance’s success, pointing out Titan Egypt’s central role in translating scientific research into real-world industrial applications through sustainable production technologies.
Captain Tony Osman, Director of Public and External Relations at Titan Group, praised Beni-Suef University’s commitment to this ambitious vision, calling for broader partnerships between industry and academia to address environmental and development challenges. He also emphasized the importance of supporting construction waste recycling efforts within the cement sector, in line with Titan’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
