The President of Beni Suef University attends the first scientific conference of the Faculty of Development Social Service.

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, attended today the first scientific conference organized by the Faculty of Development Social Service , entitled "The Future of Social Service and Interdisciplinary Specializations: Between Practice and Theory." The event was attended by Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Conference Chairman, Dr. Hamada Mohamed Mahmoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Amr Othman, Assistant Minister of Solidarity and Director of the Anti-Addiction Fund, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Youssef Aliq, Head of the Social Service Sector Committee, Dr. Hendawy Abdel Lahi, Dean of the Faculty of Development Social Service and Vice President of the Conference, and a remarkable presence of scholars and pioneers of social service from various Egyptian universities, college vice deans, faculty members and students.

For his part, Dr. Tariq Ali, Acting President of the University, emphasized that the future of social work is witnessing fundamental transformations in light of the global trend toward interdisciplinary specializations, which represent a cognitive bridge between professional practice and academics. It has become necessary for social work to integrate with other disciplines, such as psychology, economics, and digital technologies, to provide more comprehensive and effective solutions. This approach reflects the Egyptian state's vision, noting that linking field practice with academics opens new horizons for developing educational curricula and enhances the ability of social workers to address contemporary challenges using innovative methods based on a multidimensional understanding.

Dr. Amr Othman, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity, expressed his happiness to be at Beni Suef University and to participate in this scientific forum to talk about the social transformations in the drug phenomenon and the role of social services in confronting it, as we are facing social and behavioral transformations that must be studied by researchers and specialists in the field of social services and increasing the number of submitted research that monitors this thorny issue that is no less dangerous than the issue of terrorism and preparing cadres of social specialists and working on the level of prevention and not just awareness.

Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud expressed his thanks and appreciation to the former university presidents, deans and professors of the college for their prominent role in establishing and opening the college in 2015. He emphasized that the College of Development Social Service adopts a scientific strategy and a dedicated work system under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, and his provision of all forms of support to the college and the conference to  emerges in this honorable image, especially since Beni Suef University adopts scientific research to prepare graduates qualified for the labor market.

Dr. Hamada Mohamed pointed out that the university's Education and Student Sector receives all recommendations and works to implement and benefit from them, prepare students psychologically, adopt innovative teaching methods to implement them, and create a sense of positive interaction between professors, support staff, and students. He also emphasized the importance of field training to develop students' skills, in addition to enhancing their research skills before graduation.

Dr. Hindawi Abdel-Lahi stressed that the first scientific conference was organized to mark the 10th anniversary of the college's establishment, and that the topic was chosen based on the college professors' interest in implementing Egypt's vision towards developing higher education programs. Social work is a humanitarian specialty that is currently undergoing a critical turning point in light of the successive scientific developments and rapid changes in the labor market. This conference comes to support the Egyptian identity of social work in its various specializations, which confirms its permanence and supports its stability, and that it is a profession that does not end, but rather evolves with the requirements of the era.

At the end of the conference, commemorative shields and the conference shield were presented to Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University, Dr. Amr Othman, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity, the University's Vice Presidents, and social work professors who have held the position of Vice President at a number of Egyptian universities.
