The participation took place under the supervision of Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Essam Abdel Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences.

Dr. Tarek Ali affirmed that the University’s participation in the preparation of this national guideline embodies its vital role in supporting the Egyptian State’s plans to protect natural resources and ensure national water security. He added that the University places all its academic and research capabilities at the service of national projects aimed at achieving sustainable development and preserving the “lifeline” of Egypt, the River Nile, from pollution.

For his part, Dr. Fathy Mohamed Abu El-Soud explained that the final draft of the guideline, which covers the course of the River Nile and its branches, has already been completed and is currently undergoing approval by the Cabinet of Ministers in preparation for its official implementation. He noted that the committee continues to hold its monthly meetings at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Cairo to follow up on all technical solutions for protecting the Nile. Dr. Fathy Mohamed emphasized that this guideline represents a legal and technical “line of defense” that regulates the efforts of the ten concerned ministries and ensures rapid response to minimize environmental and economic damage, underscoring the integration of the University’s scientific research with the State’s executive bodies in accordance with the latest international standards.
