Beni Suef University Council Approves a Series of Awareness Events, Workshops, and Community Initiatives Across University Faculties and Institutes

The Beni Suef University Council, chaired by Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University, approved at its 253rd session the organization of a wide range of events, activities, awareness seminars, and community initiatives across the university’s various faculties and institutes. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Hamada Mohamed, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, as well as faculty deans and council members.

Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized that approving this broad package of activities reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to enhancing comprehensive community awareness among students and equipping them with the life and professional skills necessary to build leadership personalities and meet labor market requirements. He stressed that the university does not limit its role to academic functions, but works diligently to activate its role as an enlightening institution serving the environment and the surrounding community by providing purposeful educational and awareness content. This contributes to shaping students’ values and strengthening their ability to engage consciously and responsibly with current social, health, and environmental issues, reaffirming the university’s full commitment to adopting initiatives that support the Egyptian state’s vision for sustainable development.

Within the framework of scientific and awareness seminars, the University President explained that the Council approved the organization of a seminar on the role of feasibility studies in developing small projects at the Institute of Project Studies, as well as seminars at the Faculty of Education addressing test anxiety, study techniques, and how to deal with exam papers. The Council also approved the organization of a series of international seminars at the Laser Research and Applications Institute to discuss the latest research in treating tumors and biological inflammations using laser technologies, highlighting the most advanced therapeutic techniques. These seminars will address the effectiveness of blue laser light in inhibiting biofilm formation both in vitro and in vivo through the induction of oxidative stress. They will also review the therapeutic effects of low-level laser therapy combined with cisplatin to enhance the elimination of prostate cancer cells, in addition to discussing promising results of photodynamic therapy in combating Schistosoma mansoni. The scientific series will conclude with a presentation of innovative photothermal therapy techniques for colorectal cancer using laser-activated ferritin nanocages, opening new horizons in precision cancer treatments.

The Council further approved a seminar at the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence on training opportunities offered by Cisco and Huawei, as well as a scientific seminar at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, on employing the theory of conflicting rules in social research. The Council reviewed the scheduled community initiatives and campaigns, with the University President announcing the launch of the “Read to Rise,” “Anti-Bullying Champions,” and “Eco-Friendly School” initiatives at the Faculty of Education, along with the “Athar” initiative at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences in cooperation with the Learning Difficulties Department. Approvals also included the launch of an awareness campaign titled “A Drop Is Enough” at the Faculty of Education, alongside media campaigns on social media platforms, as well as the implementation of a large-scale tree-planting campaign in front of the Faculty of Nursing to enhance the university’s environmental and aesthetic appearance.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Tarek Ali referred to the approval of organizing workshops on examination regulations at the Faculty of Education, workshops on selecting research project ideas at the Faculty of Arts, and a training course at the Institute of Medical Plant Research on bioinformatics. He also highlighted applied activities, including a field visit for students of the Institute of Medical Plants to the Al-Gabry Oils Extraction Factory in Giza, and hosting students of Al-Da‘wa Al-Islamiyya School at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education for behavioral seminars and orientation tours. He further noted the participation of Faculty of Computers students in the IEEE Conference in cooperation with the Kreativa platform, and the celebration by the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts of its 25th anniversary through a seminar titled “Psychology and the Variables of the Era.”
