Green Stone Team from the Faculty of Science, Beni Suef University, Wins an International Award in Entrepreneurship

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced that the Green Stone team from the Faculty of Science has won the International Plan Award as part of the activities of the Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally Competition 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Wael Nabil Hozien, Dean of the Faculty.
Dr. Tarek Ali praised the outstanding level of the winning project, affirming that this achievement reflects the awareness of Faculty of Science students of sustainability and environmental issues, and their ability to present innovative solutions aligned with the Egyptian state’s directions in addressing climate change and supporting the green economy. He also emphasized the university and faculty administration’s commitment to supporting creative and outstanding students and to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students. He expressed his pride in the students of Beni Suef University, wishing them continued success and further achievements that contribute to raising the name of the faculty and the university at local and international forums, stressing that this win reflects the excellence of the university’s students and their ability to compete in major scientific and entrepreneurship competitions at both the national and international levels.
For his part, Dr. Wael Nabil Hozien, Dean of the Faculty of Science, explained that the Green Stone project achieved a distinguished accomplishment by winning the International Plan Award, valued at EGP 75,000, within the Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally Competition. The competition was organized by the National Center for Entrepreneurship at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, under the patronage of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund at the Ministry of Higher Education, with the participation of more than 50 teams from public, private, and national universities.
It is worth noting that the winning project focuses on the concept of sustainable production of bio-cement through the circular use of mollusk waste, diatoms, and fungal systems, contributing to the provision of environmentally friendly solutions and aligning with the Egyptian state’s strategy for achieving sustainable development.
The Green Stone team includes Dr. Osama Owais, Assistant Lecturer in the Parasitology and Invertebrates Division, Department of Zoology and Chemistry; Dr. Ola Abdel Aziz, Assistant Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, Department of Environmental Sciences and Industrial Development; and Doha Abdel Azim El-Shafei, a fourth-year student, Department of Zoology and Chemistry.
