The Faculty of Nursing, Beni Suef University, under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, launched an awareness campaign for the optimal use of antibiotics, coinciding with the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, which was launched by the World Health Organization from November 18-24 of each year. This came under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Nagi, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Hanan El-Zeblawy Hassan, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
Dr. Mansour explained that the campaign aims to raise the awareness of faculty members about the necessity of following the doctor’s advice when using antibiotics in terms of type, dosage and other instructions, and not taking antibiotics without a prescription. Also , to clarify the difference between bacterial and viral diseases and the complications of excessive use of antibiotics, in addition to emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the times of antibiotic doses.
It is worth noting that many events and activities are held around the world to celebrate the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, where the focus is on spreading a number of necessary messages to the public, which are to use antibiotics only when prescribed by a doctor, not to take antibiotics unless advised by a doctor, and not to share leftover antibiotics or prescribe them to anyone.
