Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, received a certificate declaring the university ranked 1201-1400 globally and 7th locally in the QS World University Rankings for the first time in its history, Dr. Sama El-Daq, Director of the Office of International Classification and Sustainable Development, handed over the certificate to the university president, in the presence of Dr. Tarek Ali, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Abeer Sayed Moawad, Director of the University Performance Development Center
The university president explained that the QS rankings are based on a set of criteria, most notably reputation, which accounts for 45% of the total weighting. This measure significantly impacts university rankings. He noted that the entity responsible for the ranking measures reputation through opinion polls collected from academics, heads of institutions, and various employers, asking about the quality of performance in specific disciplines. Reputation remains a central element, as it is based on the direct opinions of experts in all countries and across various disciplines, reflecting a global image of the quality of education and research in each discipline. Therefore, the ranking tends to reflect the extent of academic and professional recognition of the university internationally
Dr. Sama Al-Daq, Director of the International Classification and Sustainable Development Office, pointed out that, in addition to reputation, the classification includes research data related to the volume and impact of published research, as well as the number of citations relative to the number of international research published by faculty members. Data for this classification is extracted from the Scopus database
