Crisis Management Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, Beni-Suef University, Organizes Seminar on Earthquake Risks and Preparedness

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with the Crisis and Disaster Unit, organized an awareness seminar at the Faculty of Nursing on the risks of earthquakes and how to deal with them. The seminar was held under the supervision of Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Hanan Al-Zeblawy, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, and Dr. Hoda Attia, Director of the Faculty’s Crisis Management Unit.

The seminar included an introduction to earthquakes, their definition, main causes, and global distribution, as well as the likelihood of Egypt being exposed to seismic risks. It also addressed methods of earthquake management and the appropriate ways individuals should act before, during, and after an earthquake. In addition, a number of recommendations were made on how to protect human lives and facilities, reduce losses, and emphasize the importance of raising community awareness, as awareness is considered the first line of defense in safeguarding society against such natural disasters.
