President of Beni Suef University Inaugurates the Fourth Annual Conference on Neonatology

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, inaugurated today the Fourth Annual Conference on Neonatology, organized by the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine. The event witnessed distinguished academic and medical attendance, featuring a select group of professors and specialists in pediatrics and neonatology, along with students from both Beni Suef University and Beni Suef National University.
The conference was attended by Dr. Hany Hamed Desouky, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Dr. Mohamed Maabad, Professor of Pediatrics and Former Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Sameh Samir, Head of the Pediatrics Department and Conference Chair; Dr. Abdel-Meguid Abdel-Malek, Professor of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine; and Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary-General of the University.
In his speech, the University President emphasized the importance of the conference in promoting scientific research and knowledge exchange among physicians and specialists. He praised the pivotal role of the Faculty of Medicine in improving healthcare services for newborns, particularly in light of current health challenges. He noted that the conference addresses the latest advances in diagnosing and treating critical neonatal and preterm cases. The program includes 19 scientific sessions and lectures delivered by leading professors and experts in pediatrics, aiming to enhance the efficiency of medical professionals and update treatment protocols.
Dr. Hany Hamed added that the conference is part of a series of scientific events organized by the Faculty of Medicine to reinforce its academic and medical standing and reaffirm its commitment to providing distinguished healthcare and education across Upper Egypt. He highlighted the recent significant expansions in the university hospital, which reflect its dedication to its social and humanitarian role in alleviating the burden on families and improving the quality of medical care provided to citizens.
Dr. Emad El-Banna pointed out that the hospital’s neonatal units receive over 1,200 infants annually, reflecting the extensive efforts made in providing care and medical support for newborns. He also noted that the hospital includes specialized pediatric dialysis units—among the few in Upper Egypt—which serve as a cornerstone for delivering advanced medical services to residents of Beni Suef and neighboring governorates.
At the conclusion of the opening session, Dr. Sameh Samir, Conference Chair, honored Dr. Tarek Ali by presenting him with the conference shield in appreciation of his continuous efforts to support the medical and research sectors at the university and his commitment to enhancing the Faculty of Medicine’s role as an academic and community leader serving the people of the governorate and Upper Egypt.
