Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, announced the success of a medical team at the Vascular Surgery Department in performing the first case of treating recurrent varicocele in an eighteen-year-old patient following previous surgical intervention. The procedure was carried out using interventional catheterization (non-surgical), under the supervision of Dr. Hani Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Hospitals Board, and Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of the University Hospitals. This achievement comes within the university’s commitment to providing the latest therapeutic technologies and enhancing the quality of medical services offered to patients.
The President stated that this accomplishment marks an important step toward strengthening the capabilities of the university hospitals, reflecting the university’s dedication to adopting the latest medical innovations and improving healthcare quality. Dr. Tarek Ali also urged all medical teams at the university to continue research and development to achieve further success in offering advanced medical services that keep pace with global advancements.
Dr. Hani Hamed explained that the medical team that performed the procedure for recurrent varicocele using the interventional catheter technique—endovascular coil embolization combined with foam sclerotherapy for left recurrent varicocele, which involves vascular dilation and occlusion using vascular coils along with foam sclerotherapy—consisted of a distinguished group of specialists. The team was led by Dr. Khaled Ahmed Shawky, Head of the Vascular Surgery Department, and included Dr. Mohamed Hassan Abdel-Moula, Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery; Dr. Abdelaziz Zain Al-Abidin, Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery; Dr. Ahmed Mabrouk, Lecturer of Vascular Surgery; Dr. Osama Samih, Assistant Lecturer of Vascular Surgery; and Dr. Mohamed Khaled, Assistant Lecturer of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Sohar Saad, Vascular Surgery Resident, also participated in this achievement. The nursing and technical teams played a significant role in the success of the procedure, reflecting the fruitful cooperation among all members involved.
For his part, Dr. Emad El-Banna expressed his pride in this medical accomplishment, which contributes to reinforcing the status of Beni-Suef University Hospitals as a leading destination for advanced healthcare services.
