President of Beni-Suef University Attends the Family Counseling Workshop for Parents of University Students with Disabilities

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, attended the events of a family counseling workshop for parents of university students with disabilities. The workshop was held under the supervision of Dr. Haitham Nagi, Director of the Center for Students with Disabilities at the university, as part of the second phase of the presidential initiative “Tamkeen” under the slogan “Academic Empowerment in Higher Education”, implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education. The event was attended by Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary-General of the University, students with disabilities and their parents, a number of faculty members, teaching assistants, and staff.
The University President met with the parents of students with disabilities from various faculties and listened to their concerns, affirming that our sons and daughters with special needs are a blessing from God, endowed with many special abilities and diverse talents. He stressed that his office is always open to address their issues. He then inspected the library designated for developing the skills of students with disabilities, which includes programs, books, and games in Braille for visually impaired students.
The activities of the guidance day included several key themes focusing on understanding the individual needs of each student, recognizing differences between cases, and the family’s role in supporting students with disabilities and enhancing their psychological and behavioral development. The workshop also emphasized the importance of a positive family environment in developing their skills, helping them integrate within their families and the university community, strengthening positive behavior, reducing negative behaviors, building an effective partnership between the family, the student, and the university, and promoting social skills and peer interaction.
At the conclusion of the visit, the University President was keen to take commemorative photos with the students and their families, in appreciation of the pivotal and essential role played by parents, who are the unsung heroes working to support and care for their children and prepare them to integrate into society in an honorable manner.
