Beni-Suef University Ranks 8th Nationally and 130th Globally in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Sciences Ranking for the Current Year

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced that the university has ranked 8th locally among 36 Egyptian universities included in this year’s assessment. It also ranked 130th globally out of 911 universities from 94 countries, according to the
Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Ranking 2026 in its eighth edition.

The University President explained that the ranking evaluates the extent of universities’ contributions to interdisciplinary sciences and is based on 11 performance indicators across three main areas: inputs, processes, and outputs. It also includes several sub-criteria such as research reputation, quality of interdisciplinary research, the proportion of interdisciplinary studies to total published research, laboratory infrastructure, administrative capacity, promotion rates associated with interdisciplinary research, and the proportion of industry-funded projects that support interdisciplinary studies.

Dr. Tarek Ali added that Beni Suef University is distinguished by having eight interdisciplinary faculties and institutes, including: the Graduate studies and Advanced Sciences, the Faculty Of Science of Navigation and Space Technology, the Faculty of Earth Science, Laser Institute for Research and Applications (LIRA), Research Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises studies, the Faculty of Special Needs Science, and the Institute Of Elderly Sciences Studies.

Dr. Sama Al-Daq, Director of the International Ranking and Sustainable Development Office, indicated that data analysis shows Beni Suef University’s remarkable progress this year. She noted that the significant contribution of researchers from the university’s interdisciplinary faculties, in addition to administrative support, has played a major role in achieving tangible advancement in global rankings for interdisciplinary scientific research. She emphasized the importance of the university’s role in promoting and facilitating specialized scientific publication in the field of interdisciplinary sciences.
