The Faculty of Nursing at Beni-Suef University Organizes an Awareness Seminar Entitled “Climate Change and Its Impact on the Health of Individuals and Communities”

The Faculty of Nursing at Beni-Suef University, under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Climate Change and Its Impact on the Health of Individuals and Communities” at Al-Shorouk School. The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hamada Mohamed, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Hanan Al-Zablawy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Sherin El-Sayed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hanaa Kamal, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Dr. Aziza Mahmoud, Head of the Community Health Nursing Department. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Tasneem Ragab, Lecturer in the Community Health Nursing Department, and Dr. Hanaa Oweis, Teaching Assistant in the same department.
The University President stated that the seminar was dedicated to introducing the phenomenon of climate change, offering a detailed presentation of its major causes, ranging from industrial activities to unsustainable consumption patterns. The discussion went beyond diagnosis, addressing the wide-ranging impacts of climate change on key sectors. It highlighted its serious repercussions on public health through the spread of diseases and deteriorating air quality, as well as the challenges facing food security due to fluctuating agricultural production and water scarcity. The seminar also addressed the severe damage inflicted on natural resources, the environment, and biodiversity.
From a forward-looking perspective, the seminar presented a set of effective solutions and technologies to confront these challenges, most notably the transformative shift toward renewable energy as a sustainable alternative. It also emphasized the importance of raising societal awareness about environmental preservation and adopting sustainable practices such as rationalizing consumption, reducing pollution levels, and expanding recycling efforts as essential mechanisms for achieving environmental sustainability and reducing the community’s carbon footprint.
