Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced the success of the first operation to peel gastrointestinal tumors using ESD technology, under the supervision of Dr. Hani Hamed Ali Desouki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and Dr. Emad El-Banna, Director General of University Hospitals and Head of the Doctors Syndicate.
Dr. Tarek Ali announced that the gastroenterology team has achieved a new medical breakthrough at the university hospitals by using Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), one of the latest and most precise techniques in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. He explained that this technique allows for the removal of tumors from the inner layers of the digestive tract without the need for traditional surgery, thus reducing pain and recovery time for the patient and enhancing the quality of healthcare provided. During this procedure, a tumor was completely removed from the colon using an endoscope, demonstrating the effectiveness of this modern technique in improving treatment outcomes and reducing the risks associated with traditional surgical procedures. He emphasized the university hospitals' commitment to providing the latest treatment methods for patients.
Dr. Tarek Ali also emphasized that the university is constantly striving to improve healthcare services for citizens by introducing modern technologies that keep pace with global advancements in the medical field. He pointed out that the successful completion of endoscopic tumor resurfacing (ESD) for the first time within the university hospitals highlights their ability to provide advanced and safe treatment services, reflecting the university's commitment to delivering the highest levels of healthcare and enhancing opportunities for effective treatment for patients.
Dr. Hani Hamed explained that performing endoscopic tumor resurfacing represents a significant advancement in endoscopic services within the university hospitals. The procedure was successfully performed by the distinguished gastroenterology team, led by Dr. Hani Abu Taleb, Lecturer of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, with the assistance of Dr. Doaa Esmat, Dr. Mahmoud Gamal, Dr. Mariam Magdy, Dr. Nourhan Alaa El-Din, and Dr. Faten Mansour, and with the contribution of nursing technician Abdel Wahab Ahmed.
