Education Technology Students at Beni-Suef University Integrate Creativity and Sustainability into “Hand Weaving” Projects in Preparation for the Job Market

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, and in line with the Faculty of Technology and Education’s academic approach to enhancing application-based learning and linking theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the Department of Textile Technology organized an exhibition showcasing the learning outcomes of the “Hand Weaving Applications” course for third-year students. The event was supervised by Dr. Hamada Mohamed Mahmoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Mervat Rifaat, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Education. The exhibition was coordinated by Dr. Asmaa Hassan Ali, course instructor, with the assistance of Engineer Esraa Abdel-Monem. The event also witnessed the presence of senior academic staff, including Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; along with Dr. Baha’ Saleh and Dr. Rawya Ismail, lecturers in the Department of Textile Technology.

The Acting President of the University noted that the exhibition featured outstanding practical projects created by students using hand weaving techniques. The students successfully utilized available materials and recycled industrial waste to produce woven pieces that combined aesthetic appeal with functional value. The high quality of these projects reflected the students’ ability to transform theoretical concepts into precise handmade products, demonstrating their advanced artistic skills and mastery of tools and techniques. The importance of such practical activities lies in their support for the Faculty’s strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030 by promoting sustainability, innovation, resource efficiency, and a culture of experiential, hands-on learning.

For her part, Dr. Mervat Rifaat praised the creativity and quality of the students’ projects, emphasizing that these outcomes represent an important step toward preparing qualified graduates capable of competing in the job market. She extended her appreciation to the supervising faculty members and to the students for their remarkable efforts and excellence in producing projects that reflect their creativity and competence.
