Beni-Suef University’s Faculty of Nursing Organizes Events to Celebrate the International Day of Tolerance

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, the Faculty of Nursing organized events to celebrate the International Day of Tolerance. The activities were held under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hanan Al-Zaballawi Hassan, Dean of the Faculty; and Dr. Sherine El-Sayed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of religious leaders from Al-Azhar and the Church, represented by Sheikh Reda Abdel Halim, Director General of the Preaching Sector in Beni-Suef and Head of the Fatwa Committee, and Father Athanasious Fawzy, Priest of the Virgin Mary Church in Darb Al-Eid and Secretary of the Social Care Committee.
The students welcomed the guests with an honor corridor to mark the start of the celebration. The event began with the national anthem followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, then a welcoming speech by Dr. Hanan Al-Zaballawi highlighting the importance of instilling the value of tolerance within society and presenting a historical overview of the International Day of Tolerance, established by the United Nations in 1996, emphasizing its role in promoting dialogue, understanding, and coexistence among peoples.
The celebration included a video prepared by the faculty team explaining the concept of tolerance and its impact on building a cohesive society. Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud then delivered a speech addressing the social and psychological aspects of tolerance and its role in enhancing mental health and human relationships in academic and work environments.
Sheikh Reda Abdel Halim gave a speech highlighting the significance of tolerance in Islam, citing verses from the Quran and examples from the Prophet’s life that emphasize mercy and coexistence. Father Athanasious Fawzy also addressed the audience, discussing historical and spiritual models of tolerance, referencing both the Bible and the Quran, along with stories from authentic Egyptian heritage that reflect national unity.
At the conclusion of the events, the faculty honored the guests in recognition of their active participation, reaffirming the university’s commitment to organizing activities that support human values and promote a culture of dialogue and coexistence within the university and the wider community.
