Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced a distinguished international achievement marked by the selection of Dr. Safaa Ibrahim Mohamed Abdelghany, Lecturer in Speech and Language Disorders, to represent Beni Suef University and the Arab Republic of Egypt at the celebration of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) in Portugal. Her selection came as one of only 100 participants worldwide from the International Fellowship Programme for Dialogue.

Dr. Safaa participated with a pioneering initiative—the first of its kind at the Centre in the field of community dialogue for persons with disabilities—entitled “My Child Is Energy, Not a Disability.” The initiative focuses on entrepreneurship for the families of youth with disabilities, aiming to promote the values of dialogue, social participation, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

Dr. Tarek Ali noted that the initiative has achieved tangible success in integrating this important group, with its various disabilities, into active social and economic life. He explained that Dr. Safaa supervised the implementation of an intensive four-day training camp that brought together youth with disabilities and their families. The camp focused on teaching participants a range of distinctive handicrafts, with the goal of transforming disability into productive energy.

He added that this effort supports families in marketing their products in the local market, providing them with alternative and sustainable employment opportunities beyond reliance on traditional government jobs. This achievement underscores the university’s pioneering role in community development and its commitment to offering innovative solutions to pressing societal issues.
