The first steps of the qualification process have begun at the “From Idea to Product” conference at Beni Suef University.

As part of the serious preparations for the Applied Research Conference “From Idea to Product: Towards Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Dr. Tarek Ali, President of Beni Suef University, and with the support of His Excellency Professor Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and His Excellency Professor Dr. Hamada Mahmoud, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, the University Performance Development Center, headed by Dr. Abeer Sayed Moawad, announced the completion of the first meeting with the accepted participants in the conference, after the application period closed last February and the reception of a distinguished number of research ideas and projects.

The submitted projects were evaluated through a number of one-on-one virtual meetings with each applicant during the first week of March 2026, with the aim of determining the readiness of the submitted ideas and their applicability and transformation into real projects.

Following the completion of the evaluation phase and the identification of accepted participants, the Research-Industry Linkage Office, headed by Dr. Hemmat Fayoumi, prepared an integrated training program aimed at qualifying participants to present their projects to investors and business owners, in coordination with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.

Coordination is also underway with a number of entities that support innovation and entrepreneurship, with the aim of qualifying the accepted projects to become complete projects in terms of marketing studies and economic feasibility, in preparation for presenting them professionally during the conference activities.

The first meeting, held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, witnessed excellent engagement from the accepted participants. During the meeting, the conference's agenda and upcoming phases were outlined, and participants were introduced to key technology incubators and available support entities, which offer:

?? Technical support (mentoring, prototyping, feasibility studies)

?? Financial support (funding opportunities, connecting with investors, and support for startups). The meeting also addressed the importance of forming integrated teams for each project, defining the essential roles within the team (technical, administrative, and marketing) to ensure the projects are ready for competition and implementation. Individual sessions were also held with several applicants after the meeting, providing technical support and answering their questions.

? This meeting is a pivotal step in preparing participants to present their projects at the conference in July 2026, within an environment that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship.

?? In a significant move, coordination has been established with the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs to open applications for students to submit graduation projects with industrial applications. This will transform the conference into a collaborative platform connecting students and researchers, thereby accelerating the transfer of scientific research outputs and student projects to the market.

The journey from idea to product has already begun… towards a future built on innovation and application.
