"Negotiation and Public Debate Skills" Seminar at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Beni Suef University

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the Faculty of Political Science and Economics organized a seminar entitled "Negotiation and Public Debate Skills," as part of the training sessions for students of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs simulation model. This was under the supervision of Dr. Hamada Mohamed Mahmoud, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Nour El-Basrati, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mohamed Ali Abu Aqrab, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Shaimaa Abdel Salam, Academic Supervisor of the Simulation Model. In attendance were Dr. Nagah El-Reis, former Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mahmoud El-Tahawy, Head of the Statistics Department, and Dr. Mohamed Rashed, Coordinator of the English Language Division. The seminar was presented by Dr. Ahmed Mokhtar, Consultant of Debates, Negotiation and Public Policy at the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet. The seminar witnessed wide interaction from the students of the Faculty and participation from students of different faculties.
Dr. Tariq explained that this seminar comes within the framework of the university’s keenness to develop its students’ skills in the areas of negotiation, dialogue and building logical arguments, which qualifies them to participate effectively in academic and diplomatic forums, and enhances their abilities to think critically and make decisions. This seminar came within the activities of the second day of the training program for the simulation model, and it dealt with the foundations of effective negotiation, debate management skills, and mechanisms for presenting visions professionally, in addition to training students on persuasion techniques and effective communication in professional environments.
