Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, chaired the supervision and examination committee in his capacity as principal supervisor and examiner for two master’s theses at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology. The theses were submitted by researchers Irene Bahig Zaki and Alaa Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, teaching assistants in the Department of Optical Technology at the same faculty.
Dr. Tarek Ali explained that the two theses addressed a vital research topic representing an innovative scientific contribution in the field of developing artificial eye components and endowing them with antimicrobial properties. This was achieved through the use of zinc oxide nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles, in addition to employing laser technology to extract these materials with high precision, ensuring their efficiency and effectiveness.
The Acting President added that these studies aim to open new horizons for improving the quality of life of patients using artificial eyes by eliminating health complications and infections resulting from conventional use. They also seek to enhance patients’ quality of life by providing safer biological alternatives and offering innovative solutions to chronic microbial infection problems.
Attendees praised the novelty and distinction of the research topics presented, which reflect the university’s orientation toward supporting scientific and applied innovation. These discussions come within the framework of strengthening the university’s role in serving the community through the application of scientific research and modern technologies—foremost among them nanotechnology—to develop practical solutions to health challenges.
