President of Beni Suef University Attends the Closing Ceremony of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Simulation Model and Praises Students’ Awareness

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, attended the closing ceremony and final sessions of the first season of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Simulation Model at the Faculty of Politics and Economics. The program continued for three consecutive weeks with the participation of 160 male and female students from various university faculties, reflecting students’ strong interest in developing their political and diplomatic skills.
The event was attended by Dr. Mohamed Nour El-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Nagah El-Rais, Former Dean of the Faculty; the Faculty Vice Deans; and Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary-General of the University. The model was held under the academic supervision of Dr. El-Shaimaa Abdel Salam, Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Faculty of Politics and Economics and Founder of the Model. The closing session also featured a distinguished training lecture delivered by Dr. Ahmed Ali Ibrahim, Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives since 2015, on parliamentary diplomacy.
The University President explained that the model adopted a comprehensive strategy by accepting participants from all university faculties, thereby providing students from different academic backgrounds with the opportunity to participate. He pointed out that the training sessions addressed the concept and tools of parliamentary diplomacy, the role of parliaments in supporting foreign policy, mechanisms of international parliamentary unions, and methods of managing international sessions and discussions.
He further emphasized that the model provided distinguished scientific and practical content aimed at developing the essential skills required for diplomatic work and enhancing students’ understanding of the nature of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the mechanisms for joining it.
Dr. Tarek Ali noted that simulation models represent a practical training environment that contributes to building students’ personalities, developing their skills, and increasing their awareness of various issues. He praised the students’ advanced academic level and their awareness of the state and the challenges it faces both domestically and internationally.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Nour El-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty, stated that throughout the three-week program, the model hosted six experts and specialists to conduct training sessions as part of the model’s activities. These sessions covered a variety of topics, including international crisis management and mediation, protocol and etiquette, negotiation skills, alliance-building for climate change issues, strategic planning and decision-making, and parliamentary diplomacy.
He added that the model served as an integrated training platform closely simulating real professional practice, stressing the importance of student models within the Faculty as opportunities for collaboration, capacity building, and linking academic curricula with practical application. He affirmed that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Simulation Model is one of the university’s most significant student initiatives.
Dr. El-Shaimaa Abdel Salam explained that the vision of the model is to prepare qualified student cadres capable of understanding and practicing diplomatic work, including students from the Faculty of Politics and Economics as well as students from other faculties. She pointed out that the model focused on developing student leaders from different academic years to ensure the transfer of knowledge and expertise, noting that the initiative represents one of the distinguished student models reflecting the Faculty’s commitment to supporting meaningful activities and developing students’ capabilities and skills in the field of diplomatic work.
