Faculty of Special Needs Sciences at Beni Suef University Conducts the “Speak in Sign” Workshop in Cooperation with Qena University

The Faculty of Special Needs Sciences at Beni Suef University organized, under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, President of the University, a workshop entitled “Speak in Sign.” This came as part of a number of scientific activities organized by the faculty in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts – Department of Psychology, the Special Categories Program, and the Center for Services for Students with Disabilities at Qena University, within the framework of the university’s keenness to enhance its societal role and expand horizons of cooperation with Egyptian universities.

These activities were held under the supervision of Dr. Abo El Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Heba Abu El Nil, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences for Special Needs, and Dr. Haitham Nagi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development and Director of the Center for Services for Students with Disabilities at the university.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mohamed Rashdan to male and female students of the Special Categories Program and the Department of Psychology, in addition to students of the Center for Services for Students with Disabilities.

The workshop addressed an introduction to the basics of sign language and methods of effective communication with persons with hearing disabilities, in a manner that contributes to supporting their integration into society and enhancing opportunities for positive interaction with them in various fields.

This event comes within a series of activities implemented by the Faculty of Sciences for Special Needs, affirming its role in spreading community awareness of disability issues and enhancing students’ skills in dealing with different groups, in a manner that supports the achievement of sustainable development and social inclusion.
