Dr. Tarek Ali explained that the campaign aims to enhance mothers’ health awareness of the importance of adhering to immunization programs to protect children from infectious diseases and reduce their complications. Vaccinations are considered among the most important preventive measures that contribute to reducing rates of infection and mortality among children.
The seminar addressed a number of important topics, including the importance of vaccinations in preventing diseases such as measles, polio, diphtheria, and whooping cough, while emphasizing their role in achieving community immunity. The approved vaccination schedule was reviewed, along with the importance of adhering to the specified dates, booster doses, and regularly following up the vaccination card.
Mothers were also educated about the nature of minor side effects of vaccinations, such as a slight rise in temperature or localized redness, and safe ways to deal with them, in addition to correcting misconceptions related to vaccines.
The campaign relied on a variety of awareness methods, including simplified explanations, interactive discussions with mothers, distribution of guidance leaflets, and answering inquiries, in a manner that contributes to enhancing confidence in national immunization programs.
