“Intercultural Communication” .. The Second Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Beni Suef University

Professor Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, attended today the activities of the Second Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Al-Alsun under the title “Intercultural Communication in Language, Literature, and Translation.” The conference was held at the Conference Center on the Nile Corniche in the presence of Professor Abu El Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Sector.
The conference was organized under the supervision of Professor Marwa Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty and Chair of the Conference; Professor Hanaa Mahmoud, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies; Professor Hanan Soliman, Vice President of the National University for Innovation and Employment; Professor Heba Abdel Azim, President of the Rotary Club of Beni Suef; and Mr. Ismail El Shafie, President of the Rotary Club of Meidum and sponsor of the conference, with the participation of a distinguished group of academics and specialists.
During his speech, the Acting President of the University emphasized the fundamental role played by the fields of translation and literature in building connections and extending bridges of understanding and cooperation among different cultures and peoples around the world. He explained that the conference aims to analyze and develop contemporary mechanisms of cultural exchange in line with the requirements of the modern era. He also affirmed the university’s firm commitment to supporting distinguished academic and scientific research projects, especially those dedicated to addressing issues of national identity and promoting global communication, in a way that contributes to achieving comprehensive intellectual progress serving humanity.
Professor Marwa Mahmoud affirmed that languages play a pivotal role in building bridges of communication between peoples, as they are not merely a means of daily understanding, but also an essential tool for conveying values, beliefs, and human experiences. This contributes to enhancing cultural understanding and reducing barriers of difference. She added that languages enrich the shared human identity by enabling the exchange of literature, arts, and sciences, while also supporting international cooperation in education, research, and employment.
The conference activities included rich academic lectures. Dr. Diaa El Naggar discussed “The Problematic Nature of Translating the Term ‘interkulturell’” and the challenges facing translators between European and Arabic languages. Meanwhile, Professor Nahla Tawfik reviewed the model of “Hunayn ibn Ishaq” and the translation movement in Baghdad as a pioneering historical example of cultural transmission, sparking extensive discussions on the development of translation movements and their impact on shaping shared human thought.
