Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, chaired a meeting today for the "Elderly Companions" project, in cooperation with the National Council for Women. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Yasser Seif, Dean of the Institute of Gerontology; Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary General of the University; Dr. Abdel-Hamid Ibrahim El-Sherbiny, Vice Dean of the Institute; Dr. Omnia Mohsen, Lecturer at the Institute of Gerontology; and Dr. Narmin Mahmoud, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women in Beni Suef.

Dr. Tarek Ali explained that the meeting discussed a memorandum of understanding between the university and the National Council for Women regarding the implementation of the "Elderly Companions" project. This project aims to train graduates and those with intermediate and higher qualifications to work in the local and international markets in the field of elderly care. He noted that the project targets preparing qualified personnel to provide care services for the elderly in homes, communities, clubs, and care facilities, thus contributing to providing excellent job opportunities and meeting the growing needs for elderly care services according to modern scientific and professional principles.

The President of Beni Suef University affirmed the university's commitment to supporting community and development initiatives that serve the elderly, and to leveraging the academic capabilities of the Institute of Gerontology to develop specialized training programs that meet labor market demands. The meeting addressed mechanisms for joint cooperation between the university and the National Council for Women to implement training and rehabilitation programs, as well as developing a work plan aimed at enhancing the trainees' skills and equipping them with the necessary expertise to interact with and provide appropriate care for the elderly.
