Today, Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, attended the launch of an initiative—centered on a survey form for tracking social phenomena—at the headquarters of the Governorate . The event was attended by Major General Abdullah Abdel Aziz, Governor of Beni Suef; Dr. Hindawi Abdel-Lah, Dean of the Faculty of Development Social Service; Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary-General of the University; and Mr. Kamel Ali Hassan, Secretary-General of the Governorate. Also present were representatives from the National Council for Women, various government ministry deputies, and several partner organizations. This initiative is part of the joint efforts by the Governorate and the University to monitor social phenomena and support sustainable development plans within the local community.
In his address, the University President appreciated the development efforts undertaken by the Governorate across various sectors. He highlighted the pride of the University in its fruitful and constructive collaboration with executive authorities, rooted in the belief that synergy between academic and executive institutions is a fundamental pillar for achieving comprehensive development and serving society. He noted that the "field monitoring initiative for societal phenomena" in Beni Suef Governorate serves as a practical embodiment of this partnership. It underscores the vital role of scientific research in diagnosing social issues, identifying the needs and priorities of citizens, and generating evidence-based findings that support efforts to address challenges and formulate realistic, sustainable solutions.
He emphasized that the university role is not limited to education and scientific research alone; rather, it extends to active participation in addressing societal issues by providing scientific expertise and consultation, and by supplying decision-makers with studies and data that help define priorities and guide development policies and programs.
He noted that the university aspires for this initiative to serve as a springboard toward broader horizons of cooperation with the governorate on various societal and developmental issues. This includes fostering social awareness, supporting youth and families, addressing social challenges, and improving the quality of life for citizens—all rooted in the belief that the partnership between the university and the governorate represents a sustainable collaboration aimed at identifying challenges, crafting solutions, and envisioning a better future for the people of Beni Suef Governorate.
In his address, the Governor emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between academic preparation and practical application to develop realistic solutions for societal challenges. He underscored the need to raise public awareness, highlighting that citizens are key partners in safeguarding the achievements realized by the Egyptian state over the past few years. He further explained that an electronic survey form will be launched on November 1st, covering five main areas—most notably the assessment of the general situation and the services provided to citizens, as well as the identification of negative phenomena and their impact on society. He noted that 12 entities are participating in the initiative—including Beni Suef University, Al-Azhar, the Church, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf), the directorates of health and education, and the National Council for Women—reflecting a collaborative effort among various institutions to serve the community.
The Governor added that the governorate and the university are set to launch a provincial medical council in the near future, a move designed to support the development of the healthcare system and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens. He also noted another collaborative initiative aimed at leveraging student graduation projects to examine challenges within the governorate and propose innovative solutions, thereby supporting development plans and maximizing the potential of the youth.
For his part, Dr. Hindawi Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Social Service , explained that the Faculty is representing Beni Suef University in this initiative. He noted that a comprehensive plan for active participation has been developed, involving 700 male and female students, 15 faculty members (holding the rank of professor), and 50 assistant faculty members. He further emphasized that all participants have been trained on how to use the electronic questionnaire and collect data, ensuring the accuracy of the results and the fulfillment of the initiative’s objectives: to identify social phenomena and establish a scientific foundation for addressing them.
