Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced that the National Council for Women (NCW) has honored the Faculty of Mass Communication in recognition of its participation in monitoring and analyzing the portrayal of women in drama and media during the month of Ramadan 2026. This recognition took place during a ceremony organized by the Council—through its Media Committee—and attended by Counselor Amal Ammar, Chair of the Council, to honor the partners who contributed to the success of the monitoring initiative

The participation took place under the patronage of Dr. Mamdouh Mekkawi, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and Dr. Omnia Abdelrahman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. It was executed under the supervision of Dr. Yosra Akoush, Director of the Graduates Follow-up Unit, and Dr. Rehab El-Sharif, Coordinator of the Unit for Combating Violence Against Women at the faculty

The monitoring and analysis work involved Nada El-Deeb, an assistant lecturer in the Public Relations Department, and Tuqa Abdel-Rahim, an assistant lecturer in the Radio and Television Department, along with students Doha Abdullah Othman, Jumana Mohamed, Esther Ibrahim, and Mohamed Nadi

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Suzanne El-Kalini—a council member, rapporteur of the Media Committee, and the official spokesperson of the council  —along with a distinguished group of deans of Mass Communication faculties, department heads, professors, researchers, members of the Media Committee, and representatives from various Egyptian universities, academies, and institutes. Also present were the research and youth teams contributing to the observatory’s work, as well as a number of inspiring Arab women

The university president emphasized that this recognition reflects the contribution to addressing societal issues—specifically by leveraging academic and research expertise to examine how media and drama portray women’s concerns—and its support for efforts aimed at presenting a fair image that accurately represents women’s roles and contributions across various fields

Dr. Mamdouh Mekkawi noted that this participation reflects the  commitment of the faculty to strengthening cooperation with national institutions, linking academic work with societal issues, and fostering an awareness among students and researchers regarding the professional responsibility of the media in challenging stereotypes and opposing violence and discrimination against women
