Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, the Faculty of Education at Beni-Suef University launched the “A Step Toward Excellence” initiative. The initiative aims to provide educational and academic support to students at social care institutions, assist them throughout their educational journey, and develop their abilities and skills in ways that help them achieve excellence and build a better future. The initiative was launched under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Osama Mahmoud Qurni, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Dr. Ahmed Fekry Bahnasawy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Yasmin Salah, Head of the Faculty’s Community Initiatives Team.
Prof. Dr. Tarek Ali explained that the initiative includes a range of educational and academic services, such as helping students with their studies and reviewing their curricula, simplifying information and explaining topics they find difficult to understand, assisting them with homework and school exercises, and preparing them for examinations. It also seeks to develop self-learning skills, time management, and effective study habits; boost self-confidence and motivation to learn and excel; and instill positive educational values, a sense of responsibility and belonging, and ambition.
He emphasized that the University’s role extends beyond the boundaries of lecture halls to address the needs of the community, as investing in children's education and nurturing their abilities is an investment in the nation's future. He added that such initiatives embody the University's mission to build individuals and promote equal opportunities in learning and success. The initiative stems from the Faculty’s belief that every child has abilities and aspirations deserving of support and care, and that providing appropriate educational and academic assistance helps discover their potential, strengthen their self-confidence, and open up broader opportunities for learning and achievement.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Osama Mahmoud Qurni, Dean of the Faculty, explained that the Faculty of Education has a humanitarian and educational mission that requires contributing to the provision of better learning opportunities for children who need additional care and support. He stressed that true education is not limited to teaching; it also encompasses providing care, encouragement, character development, and fostering hope.
Dr. Ahmed Fekry Bahnasawy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, noted that the initiative translates the Faculty’s social responsibility into tangible educational and humanitarian action by supporting students throughout their educational journey, helping them believe in their abilities, and opening up horizons of knowledge and hope for them. He emphasized that every child has the right to receive the support needed to succeed and build a better future.
In the same context, Dr. Yasmin Salah, Head of the Faculty’s Community Initiatives Team and Leader of the Initiative, affirmed that “A Step Toward Excellence” goes beyond providing help with schoolwork. It seeks to offer support, care, and encouragement, monitor students’ progress, and strengthen their self-confidence and aspirations. She pointed out that every small educational step and every word of encouragement can mark the true beginning of a change in a child's future.
