Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced today that a joint scientific team from the College of Science, in cooperation with the College of Technology and Education and the Petroleum Research Institute, has won a funding for a research project in the field of manufacturing nanomembranes from geological materials And industrial and agricultural wastes for purifying industrial wastewater, funded by the Science, Technology and Innovation Authority (STDF), with a value of one million and 815 thousand pounds

The university president explained that the project is entitled "Towards achieving the zero-liquid drainage strategy: Effective treatment of wastewater resulting from the textile industry by using an innovative system of hollow tube nanomembranes based on active carbon / polymer prepared from natural materials, industrial and agricultural wastes."

Dr. Mansour emphasized that the project is in line with the state’s plan to exploit its natural resources in purifying industrial wastewater, which is considered one of the main elements in water pollution The project aims to   produce a low-cost, ultra-efficient, hollow nanometric membrane from geological materials supported by industrial and agricultural waste in the adsorption of pollutants such as dyes and heavy metals from the textile industry

It is noteworthy that the research team consists of Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Zayed, Professor in the Department of Geology and the Principal researcher of the Project, Deputy Director of the University Performance Development Center, researchers Mustafa Abdel Azim Masoud, and Hussein Ahmed Shendi, teaching assistants in the department and researcher Bahaa Salih Shaaban, assistant teacher at the College of Technology and Education, and the project was implemented through the Applied Minerals and Water Research Laboratory of the Geology Department of the College of Science.
