The Council of Beni Suef University, headed by Prof. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, approved, in its 213rd session, the proposal of the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences to organize a package of activities, including the college’s celebration of the International White Cane Day, during the month of next October, and to conduct trainings for teachers of inclusion schools in the Directorate of Education and Afforestation College garden and cooperation with the antiquities of Beni Suef.
The President of the University explained that the aim of the celebration of the International White Cane Day is to emphasize the importance of supporting students with visual impairment, looking into their needs and highlighting the latest developments in the field of vision in terms of devices and publications, in addition to addressing their achievements and work to integrate them into society and concerted efforts between the civil and official sides. to achieve that.
Dr. Heba Abu El-Nile, Dean of the College, pointed out that the celebration of the International Day of the White Cane aims to spread awareness and culture among societies about the rights of the blind, and to highlight the white cane as a symbol of visual impairment, and that its holder possesses skills that enable him to move and direct with the help of that cane and that it provides protection on the way.
