Beni Suef University, under the leadership of Acting President Dr. Tarek Ali, announced the publication of a new book by Dr. Ahmed Atef Azazi, Assistant Professor of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Head of the Department, and Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences. The book, titled “Therapeutic Nutrition for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder,” adds a specialized reference to the Arabic library, addressing the role of therapeutic nutrition in supporting children with autism spectrum disorder and reinforcing the university’s efforts in serving scientific research and the community.
The university president praised the book, especially as it coincides with international efforts to designate April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day, promoting the rights of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and ensuring their equal participation in society. The book offers a specialized scientific analysis of the role of therapeutic nutrition as a supportive element in training and skills development programs, as well as the impact of dietary components on social behaviors and skills. It presents a framework that facilitates the integration of these programs into training and rehabilitation sessions.
Dr. Azazi added that the book focuses on the behavioral and rehabilitative aspects of nutrition, without addressing the medical and therapeutic aspects. It is based on the findings of recent studies that have highlighted the impact of malnutrition on attention, behavior, and social interaction in children. The book also reviews the most prominent international nutritional programs suitable for them and presents a scientific foundation upon which researchers can build to develop new studies in this growing field, in line with international trends advocating for multifaceted care that includes nutrition, behavior, and rehabilitation.
It is worth noting that the publication of this book underscores Beni Suef University's role in supporting specialized scientific research and developing knowledge that contributes to improving the quality of life for children with special needs and their families.
