In a new medical achievement... Beni Suef University Hospitals successfully remove a complex tumor from the colon and bladder, saving a patient's life.

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced the success of a joint medical team from the General Surgery and Urology departments at Beni Suef University Hospitals in saving a patient's life. The team performed a delicate and complex surgery to remove a large colon tumor, along with a partial bladder resection due to the tumor penetrating the bladder wall. The surgery was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Hani Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Beni Suef University Hospitals; Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of Beni Suef University Hospitals; Dr. Tamer Nabil, Head of the General Surgery Department; and Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Bari, Head of the Urology Department.
Dr. Tarek Ali affirmed that Beni Suef University hospitals are steadily progressing towards developing the medical and treatment services provided to citizens. He noted that the university provides all means of support and care to equip the hospitals with the latest capabilities and modern technologies to ensure rapid response and effective integration between different departments in critical and complex cases. He also explained that the university hospitals possess highly qualified and competent medical staff and faculty members, making them the primary destination for receiving delicate cases and performing the most complex emergency cancer surgeries in the governorate. He emphasized that teamwork and integrated coordination are the constant foundation for providing outstanding medical service and saving patients' lives.
Dr. Hani Hamed stated that upon the patient's arrival, the diagnosis was accurate, and immediate coordination between departments was established. The surgical team intervened urgently to control and completely remove the tumor along with the affected tissues, addressing the tumor's invasion of the bladder with a high degree of professionalism that reflects the exceptional expertise of the medical staff and ensures the best possible chance of the patient's recovery. He pointed out that the success of this complex operation was not limited to the surgical intervention alone, but extended to the medical care and close monitoring of the patient in the intensive care unit until his condition stabilized completely and he recovered. Dr. Hani Hamed also explained that the general surgery team, under the supervision of Dr. Tamer Nabil, included: Dr. Abdel Aziz Zein El Abdeen, Assistant Professor of General and Vascular Surgery (team leader), Dr. Osama Sameh, Assistant Lecturer of General Surgery, and resident physicians Dr. Khaled Baghdadi and Dr. Taha Hamdan.
Dr. Emad El-Banna also mentioned that the urology surgery team, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed Abdel-Latif, included: Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Professor of Urology (team leader), Dr. Al-Mu’tasim Billah, Lecturer of Urology, and resident physician Ahmed Tayeb, in addition to the active participation of the anesthesia team, nursing staff, and support staff members.
The university president concluded by expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation to the hospital administration, the surgical team in the general surgery and urology departments, the anesthesia team, and the nursing staff, in recognition of their sincere efforts and dedication to performing their humanitarian mission, and the cooperation and integration they provided, which had a significant impact on improving the level of medical services provided to citizens and the success of this complex operation.
